of Zambia are ahead of
the 34 players in the
Open section of the CMMB
Championship after four
rounds. Pecorelli,
however, is in the lead
with 4 points, half a
point ahead of the
African star who was
held to an unexpected
draw by Roger Matoewi,
Suriname’s national
champion, in the second
round.
Behind them on 3 points
each are Russel Porter
and Jomo Pitterson of
Jamaica, Cesar Ramos of
Venezuela and Kishore
Ramadhar of T&T.
IN the Under 20 group,
Jamaica’s Brandon
Wilson, rated 2116, has
taken the lead with a
perfect score of 4
points after four
rounds. Half a point
behind him are Romario
Sanchez of Suriname and
Justin Salloum of
Trinidad and Tobago. On
three points are
Stephane Milton and
Slomy Noreskai of
Martinique, Esan
Wiltshire and Ricardo
Rattan of T&T and
Avikaar Malgie of
Suriname.
Among the Under 14s,
Phillip Pryce of Jamaica
and T&T’s Raphael
Guerrero are unbeaten
with 4 points each.
Behind them on 3 points
each are Alex Jackman
(1784) and Chad Barrow
of Barbados, Vishnu
Singh of T&T and Geryen
dos Ramos of Suriname.
In the Under 10
division, Alexander
Kafiluddin is one in the
lead with 4 points, a
full point ahead of
Cavin Tjong Tjin Joe of
Suriname and Jonathan
Chong and Mahendra Singh
of T&T.
The tournament,
organized by the T&T
Chess Foundation, has
attracted 107 players
across the Caribbean,
Cuba, Venezuela and as
far as Zambia and
Slovakia.
The lone female entrant
in the Open section is
FIDE Woman Master Zuzana
Borosova, a petite
blonde who represented
Slovakia at the
Olympiads in Mallorca
and Turin. After 4
rounds she is in 9th
place with 2.5 points.
The tournaments end
tomorrow with a
prize-giving ceremony.
